The First Pressing Instagram Tips of 2026
Written By: Hailey Orbik
It’s the end of Q1, and honestly, one of the most useful updates just came from Adam Mosseri that social media managers have been needing for years.

Instagram now lets you reorder your carousel photos after the post is already live. And if you’ve ever posted a carousel before, you know how big of a deal that is. Before this, once you hit post, that was it. If your first photo didn’t look right, didn’t match your feed, or just didn’t perform well, your only option was to delete the whole thing and start over.
Now, there’s way more flexibility.

This is especially helpful for social media managers because the first image in a carousel is everything. It’s what makes people stop scrolling. But the reality is, you don’t always know which image is going to perform best until it’s already out there. Being able to switch the order after posting gives you the chance to test things in real time instead of guessing.
It also takes a lot of pressure off. Content doesn’t have to be perfect on the first try anymore. You can post, see how it performs, and then adjust if needed. That kind of freedom makes it easier to focus on consistency and creativity instead of stressing over every tiny detail before posting.

Updates like this show how Instagram is starting to shift more toward helping creators and managers actually optimizetheir content, not just post it and hope for the best.
Overall, it might seem like a small feature, but it can make a huge difference when it comes to engagement and strategy. If you’re managing accounts in 2026, this is definitely something you should be taking advantage of.
